Latin School of Chicago is seeking a detail-oriented and donor-centric professional as Annual Giving Manager to join the Development team to manage its annual giving and communication efforts. We’re looking for an excellent writer and project manager who excels in collaborating with colleagues across departments and multiple volunteer groups to achieve the goals and objectives of the Development team.


To that end, The Annual Giving Manager will serve as the staff liaison for: the Annual Giving Chair and Giving Ambassadors, a volunteer group tasked with engaging other parents in the community to increase fundraising participation; Latin’s Marketing and Communications team to oversee the Development communications calendar and shared projects; Latin’s Enrollment Management team to understand our student demographics and to ensure that messaging between departments is consistent; and external partners to create copy, oversee design, and deliver print and digital communications to a diverse set of constituents throughout the year. The Manager will use Latin’s donor database, and other tools, to track donor engagement of annual fund participants and identify prospects capable of contributing major gifts.

This is a supervisory role that will oversee the Giving Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement an annual multi-channel solicitation plan, including direct mail and digital outreach, as well as, flash giving events; develop specialized outreach plans for high priority donor segments including new families, alumni, parents of alumni and grandparents
  • Create dynamic department materials including e-blasts, mailers, one-pagers, presentations, and talking points that connect with a variety of stakeholders; partner with program leaders around the school to cultivate and curate a wide range of compelling stories and messages for use in donor-facing communications
  • Develop copy for donor stewardship pieces including acknowledgement letters, endowment reports, donor impact reports, and other high-touch recognition materials
  • Staff all annual giving committees: recruiting, organizing, training, and stewarding volunteer solicitors in coordination with annual giving, annual event, and major gift teams
  • Serve as Development team liaison to Latin’s Marketing & Communications and Enrollment Management teams, sharing key department updates, managing logistics for shared projects, ensuring efficiency through resource sharing, and alignment in external messaging
  • Manage annual fund portfolio, identifying and cultivating prospects capable of gifts of higher amounts to be moved into major gifts pipeline
  • Employ strong data-driven tactics to analyze, design and improve results, monitoring metrics of giving participation, average gift size, donor retention, acquisition, upgrades, and return on investment; assist with the development, running, and interpretation of annual giving results
  • Execute timely and meaningful annual giving recognition in print publications and events
  • Research and stay up-to-date on trends in the field to improve annual giving outcomes
  • Provide supervision for and manage work of the Giving Coordinator
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team, providing assistance and input as needed, and communicating frequently to ensure alignment and conflict-free events and activities


QUALIFICATIONS:


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 or more years of experience in non-profit fundraising or program management
  • Experience building relationships with donors, volunteers, and staff
  • Experience in managing and tracking prospects and donors
  • Experience writing and deploying print and digital communications
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred

  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment and effectively pivot from one discipline to the next on a frequent basis
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative work style with a focus on providing exceptional service across multiple constituencies
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Must have a strong drive for accountability by demonstrating great time management skills and a determination to meet deadlines
  • Strong technical skills with a demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) tools, Raiser’s Edge experience a plus


Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
