As the Director, Merchandising, you will play an important role in the company by overseeing the marketing, branding and promotions of the company’s products.This position is responsible for increasing customer sales through marketing and promoting products to their target audience.


Description of Responsibilities

  • To oversee the development, execution, and communication of seasonal merchandise strategies that meet financial plans.
  • To be accountable to the total GA division’s sales results, inclusive of gross sales, net sales, gross margin and sell through results.
  • To control all facets of the buy process for the U.S. driving merchandising strategy for all the Americas (including Canada, Mexico and Concessions).


Overview of Critical Duties

  • Develop brand appropriate assortments in partnership with GA Spa and management, which incorporates product trends, historical data and field input to create a commerical collection for US needs. Identify and recommend big ideas/ key items positioning to ensure they meet financial targets. Formulate and continually evaluate pricing strategies.
  • Partner with planning and management to complete top down and bottoms up planning for each dept both seasonally in business plans and monthly in OTB.
  • Analyze OTB and take action as necessary; recommending changes to future on order, pricing or markdown strategies.
  • Manage conversion of wholesale to concessions models by partnering with 3rd party vendors and curating a specific assortment to drive planned sales growth
  • Present assortment to senior management for approval by developing presentation structure and content, and ensuring appropriate analysis is completed. Identify business opportunities and risks in-season through analyzing sales performance and gathering marketplace/trend information.
  • Change future Department strategies in-season where needed and provide appropriate and timely direction to the cross- functional team in order to react quickly to customer and business trends.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of industry through store visits and competitive analysis.
  • Communicate with GA Spa and management through meetings and store visits regarding best/worst sellers.
  • Collaborate and build strong cross functional relationships with key business partners HQ and locally
  • Lead with a store centric approach to incorporate all local client feedback
  • Monitor and provide development and training of assistant buyer and cross-functional team.
  • Work with Visual team to create strong floor sets and accurate documents in order to drive sales.
  • Create and implement effective product knowledge through the division inclusive of product knowledge tools and seminars.


Background/Experience:

  • Computer proficiency (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
  • College degree or master degree preferred
  • At least 10 years of experience in the field
  • Excellent communications skills both written and verbal
