Main Duties & Responsibilities

Summary/Objective

Responsible for procuring materials and supplies needed for production, ensuring timely and cost-effective purchasing, maintaining vendor relationships, and analyzing market trends to secure the best prices.

Essential Functions:

  1. Researching, selecting, and purchasing quality products and materials.
  2. Building relationships with suppliers and negotiating for the best pricing.
  3. Processing requisitions and updating management on status of orders.
  4. Updating inventory and ensuring that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
  5. Arranging transport of goods and tracking orders to ensure timely delivery.
  6. Create all assigned purchase orders.
  7. Track all orders from the supplier and monitor the progress of critical or longer lead time orders.
  8. Create internal process to report out to team daily.
  9. Expedite orders with direction from management.
  10. Measure On Time Delivery – address negative trends with OTD.
  11. Conduct quarterly vendor risk assessment meetings with internal team and post findings.
  12. Research additional sources, validate and approve with engineering and quality and develop a sourcing strategy that ensures a primary and secondary supplier for all outside process services.
  13. Achieve cost savings/productivity and review open issues weekly.
  14. Be the purchasing point of contact for all issues with suppliers.
  15. Coordinate outside processing shipments and receipts with the receiving department daily and notify team of job completion and pick-up availability.
  16. Responsible for updating purchasing information daily on the War Room board.
  17. Conduct at a quarterly supplier visit.
  18. Back up for Senior Buyer.

Qualifications


Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or Business
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in purchasing or related field.
  • Computer and system skills: proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) required. ERP software preferred.

Physical Demands:

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected. Travel is approximately 10% of time.

The pay scale for this position ranges from $80,000 to $87,000 annually.
