POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will report to the Senior Director of IT Operations & Security. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Level 1 Cyber Security Analyst to join our dynamic security team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring and responding to security incidents, conducting initial analysis and investigation, and supporting the overall security posture of the organization. This role is crucial in protecting the company’s assets, information, and systems from cyber threats.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Key Responsibilities:
Monitoring and Incident Response:
- Continuously monitor security alerts and events from CrowdStrike Falcon Complete EDR, Microsoft Defender, SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, etc.).
- Respond to security incidents in a timely manner, following established protocols.
- Document and escalate incidents as necessary in accordance with the Incident Response Policy
- The Information Security Analyst will plan, implement, upgrade and monitor security protocols to protect the J&J networks and information
- Reviews violations of security procedures and provides training to ensure violations do not recur
- Monitors and restricts access to sensitive, confidential or other high-security data
- Safeguards system security and improves overall server and network efficiency by training users and promoting security awareness
- Assist in the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and controls
Threat Analysis:
- Stay informed about the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, and exploits to proactively address emerging security issues
- Perform initial analysis of security events to determine their impact and severity.
- Identify potential false positives and ensure accurate incident classification.
- Assist in identifying potential threats, vulnerabilities, and risks to the organization.
- Create Threat Reports for Leadership
Investigation and Reporting:
- Conduct investigations to gather information about security incidents.
- Generate reports and maintain logs of security incidents, providing detailed documentation.
- Assist in post-incident analysis and reporting.
Security Operations:
- Support the implementation and maintenance of security tools and technologies.
- Participate in routine security checks and vulnerability assessments.
- Assist in the deployment and configuration of security controls.
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with other members of the security team to enhance overall security measures.
- Provide support to other IT and operational teams regarding security-related issues.
- Participate in security awareness and training initiatives for staff.
Compliance and Best Practices:
- Performs risk assessments, audits and tests to ensure proper functioning of data processing activities and security measures
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated with the latest security trends, threats, and technologies.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of security policies and procedures.
COMPETENCIES:
Basic knowledge of incident response procedures. Knowledge of OSI Model and concepts. Knowledge of Information Security Concepts. Strong analytical, organizational and writing skills. Knowledge of NIST, CIS, SOX, PCI and HIPAA controls. Interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical personnel across different organizational levels.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, etc.).
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux) and common security issues.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively.
- Hands-on experience with security tools and technologies.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) for automation.
- Familiarity with incident response and digital forensics.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in Security Analyst Role, with a focus on CrowdStrike Falcon and Microsoft Defender technologies.
- Experience with IT security tools, services, and vendors.
