Position Purpose

Responsible for mechanical and electrical design as well as Application Engineering for North America (NA) including operations in LaGrange GA. Responsibilities include development and implementation of standardized NA processes, performance metrics and reporting in support of overall NA strategic plans to deliver region objectives. Oversite of all technical resources to meet OEM/aftermarket project requirements and deadlines effectively. Initiates, plans, designs process and oversees management activity to meet customer requirements.


Job Functions

  • Evaluate existing engineering and applications performance metrics for OEM and EMP business with management team. Evaluate effectiveness of performance metrics and areas to improve standardization, clarity, relevance to accurately measure organization activity and customer fulfillment.
  • Lead the departments to a focused structure, process and performance metrics as required by ISO procedures and work instructions. Including systems utilization Bluestar and Solidworks. Integrate NA regional engineering and Applications with Global Product Groups and Centers for Product Innovation.
  • Develop NA Engineering & Applications metrics in cooperation with management team and NA Sales & Service Leader to meet business requirements.
  • Engineering to cost estimate accuracy, adherence to cost estimates, on time engineering to commit date, design accuracy, absorbed engineering hours, warranty and trailing costs corrective actions as required.
  • Applications – Proposal speed and accuracy, SPIN based proposal development, risk assessment.
  • Provide leadership for management team by supporting, development and setting/measuring of goals and objectives, ensuring a safe workplace for employees, exercising good judgment and setting a good example, and providing effective feedback and communication. Assure adherence to established design practices, work instructions and specifications.
  • Lead organizational development via organizational skills assessment and identification of team development requirements. Coordinate training and mentoring programs with team leaders to develop future leaders.
  • Support Management teamwork assignment to optimize resource utilization and talents to effectively meet customer requirements on time.
  • Lead development of strong interface with supply chain organization to review engineering contribution to manufacturing process and proactively improve and resolve design related issues for manufacturability. Interact with manufacturing and field representatives to resolve design related issues or provide insight into the fabrication, fit up, installation or operation of project offerings.
  • Lead Development of Applications strong interface with NA Sales and Service team to support application development, technical support and proposal to order close rate.
  • Coordinate and interface with NA organization to develop solutions to support regional Parts formation and Parts Preparation businesses.
  • Customer travel as required to develop and advance industry expertise.
  • Perform special projects and duties as required.



Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or university) in relevant Engineering Field is required. Masters Degree preferred.
  • Experience: 10 years+ direct Engineering management experience required. Operational experience in the industry is a plus.
  • Computer Skills: Strong computer skills in Excel, Access, Windows based Office software, and 2D and 3D design software. Solidworks preferred.


Other Requirements: Understanding and experience in stress calculations and machine drive calculations, pneumatic and hydraulic components and controls, standard welding practices, bill of material structure, and revision control. Understand and utilize fundamental design practices and demonstrate experience in product design using CAD and/or three dimensional modeling software.
