Requirements of the Supplier Quality Engineer

  • Bachelor Degree with course of study in Quality Management, Operations Manager, Engineering or related field required.
  • 5 years’ Quality work experience, including experience working directly with suppliers.
  • Working knowledge of Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) standards and VDA a plus but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of core tools, APQP, GD&T, PPAP, and Dimensional analysis.
  • Familiar with IATF 16949
  • Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements. Metal Stamping experience desired

Responsibilities of the Supplier Quality Engineer

  • Monitoring the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) of supplier
  • Communicates production quality requirements and expectations to the suppliers.
  • Management/Escalation in case supplier APQP deviates from timing, cost or quality.
  • Conduct Supplier visits/ audits developing relationships that will help to reduce quality costs
  • Manage all assigned suppliers in aspects of Quality Management for the production team (i.e., kick off meetings, check fixture review/ approvals, dimensional and appearance conformance, Process Capability, APQP, PPAP, Gage R&R, Run at rate-line speed demonstrations for the project supply base etc.).
