Senior Staff Accountant (Path to Controller)

Location: 100% Onsite - Northern Colorado

Role Overview:
As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in cleaning up financial records, shoring up accounting processes, and partnering closely with our Controller
Your work will be integral to building departmental credibility and ensuring the accuracy of our financial operations
This is a hands-on position, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is ready to take the next step in their career.

Key Senior Staff Accountant Responsibilities:

Initial Focus (First Month):
- Account Reconciliations (70%): Dive deep into account reconciliations, working alongside the Controller to establish and refine processes
Ensure all accounts are meticulously reconciled and set up for future success.

Ongoing Senior Staff Accountant Responsibilities:
- Month-End Close & Account Recs (30%): Take ownership of the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting.
- Weekly Reporting: Prepare and analyze weekly financial reports, providing insights to support business decisions.
- Budget: Play a key role in the budgeting process, contributing to regular forecasting updates and ensuring alignment with financial goals.
- Payroll Backup: Serve as a reliable backup for payroll processing, ensuring smooth operations in the Controller's absence.
- AP/AR Backup: Gradually take on backup responsibilities for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, deepening your understanding of the full accounting cycle.

Growth Path:
This Senior Staff Accountant role is designed to evolve into a Controller position
As you master the responsibilities outlined above, you will have the opportunity to take on more advanced financial reporting, strategic planning, and leadership tasks
We're looking for someone who is eager to grow, learn, and eventually lead our accounting team.

Senior Staff Accountant Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong expertise in complex reconciliations and financial clean-up.
- Manufacturing industry experience required.
- Proficiency with larger ERP systems and advanced data manipulation.
- An affinity for learning and professional growth.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional demeanor with an approachable personality.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, business-casual environment (yes, jeans are okay).
