HEALTHCARE EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED


As an Associate General Counsel , you will provide high-quality, complex, solution-oriented legal services. Collaborate closely with General Counsel and Senior Management to determine strategies and priorities, then work independently to implement those decisions without the need for excessive oversight. Assist with advising senior management, assist with rapid corporate growth. Ensure all business operations comply with all applicable laws and regulations, specifically emphasizing healthcare laws.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and assist with the design, implement operations systems that comply with healthcare, commercial, and all other applicable laws
  • Assist with all aspects of regulatory and licensing and privacy matters and litigation.
  • Review and draft ethics and compliance policies and procedures
  • Implement litigation strategies and manage associated processes (including, but not limited to, regulatory, business and employee related litigation)
  • Oversee audit processes in coordination with Compliance and Operations departments (including settlements and appeals)
  • Track Federal and State legislative activity that affects the Company and the sector in which it operates
  • Use clear, concise, plain-language communication orally and in writing
  • Distill complex issues into concise, relevant summaries for executive action
  • Deliver responsive, fast-paced, solutions oriented, problem solving on all assigned tasks
  • Maintains a high degree of confidentiality at all times due to access to sensitive information
  • Maintains regular, predictable, consistent attendance and is flexible to meet the needs of the department
  • Abides by all regulations, policies, procedures and standards of the Company

Experience:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school (high class standing and academic achievement preferred) and three to six years of prior law firm experience preferred. May substitute in-house legal experience in a healthcare setting for law firm experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Hands-on healthcare legal experience with regulatory/licensing and privacy
  • Experience managing variety of projects and tasks simultaneously on-time and within financial budgets
  • Demonstrated pattern of collaborating, giving and receiving direct feedback, and being motivated to constantly improve all aspects of in-house practice
  • Actively seeks information about situations; strives to understand the rationale and implications for changes
  • Formulates clear decision criteria; evaluates options by considering implications and consequences. Implements decisions or initiates action within a reasonable time frame
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate concisely and candidly
  • Strong sense of and commitment to ethics and compliance. Healthcare compliance background preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, including an ability to provide succinct advice to Senior Management.
  • Licensed and in good standing in at least one State Bar; Florida preferred
  • Proficient with various Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
