Position: Associate General Counsel

Reports directly to the CEO/COO


Compensation:

Highly Competitive Annual Salary

Performance-based Bonus: Up to 20% annually


Additional Benefits:

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all routine litigation related to Restaurant Operations.
  • Be proactive in creating and implementing strategies to reduce claims.
  • Perform research and analysis and draft legal memoranda as requested by the senior leadership team.
  • Assist in overseeing outside coverage counsel, including insurance claims in litigation.
  • Proactively assist in negotiating and settling claims at the evaluation and designated authority levels.
  • Perform legal research and provide legal coverage opinions to claims personnel involving coverage issues.
  • Keep abreast of insurance coverage case law, trends, and experience
  • Develop and present training programs to internal departments and participate in roundtable conferences with personnel on legal matters.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the corporate legal teams, risk management, and claims teams and partners.
  • Manage risk in structuring, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating company contracts, including corporate contracts, vendor sourcing contracts, construction contracts, venue-level contracts, and customer agreements.
  • Fully understand the company structure and operations.
  • Provide support for commercial transactions.
  • Respond to legal inquiries from internal departments.
  • Review and respond to requests for proposals (RFPs), requests for information (RFIs), and other similar bid documents from a risk management perspective.
  • Travel as necessary to attend arbitrations, mediations, settlement conferences, or trials.
  • Complete special projects and other tasks as assigned by leadership.


Qualifications:

  • Prior general business legal experience in a law firm or in-house environment.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating contracts, commercial litigation, corporate governance, and transactional work.
  • Licensed or eligible to become licensed to practice law as in-house counsel in the State of Florida.
  • Experience with contract drafting and negotiation, corporate governance and transactions, and civil litigation.
