Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for managing and executing assigned mechanical engineering deliverables and projects of various sizes and complexities in an industrial setting.
  • Provide mechanical engineering subject matter expertise, integrity and maintenance proficiency and challenge to operations and projects.
  • Lead assigned mechanical and integrity related operational interventions and support failure and incident investigations as required.
  • Participate in gate reviews, peer assists, risk assessments and hazard analysis as required.
  • Drive facilities optimization in assigned projects with a specific focus on mechanical integrity and operations.
  • Utilize data to identify engineering modifications to drive out the root cause of unreliability, losses and integrity issues across the operations and provide specialized knowledge on troubleshooting as required.
  • Support the development of fit-for-purpose Standards and Procedures relevant to facilities engineering and risk management providing the relevant process integrity and operational expertise.
  • Provide technical input and guidance to projects including design and construction engineering, and procurement of equipment.
  • Provide expertise and assist with facilities start-up, and operations from a mechanical engineering perspective as required.
  • Execute capital projects according to the work scope, schedule, cost and budget.
  • Responsible for assigned project development and completion: Preliminary engineering to detail designs to construction and the final and safe turnover to operations.
  • Design development of project proposal as required, include definition of project work scope and schedule requirements. Development of detailed estimate leading to funding appropriation and approval.
  • Manage contractor preparation of detailed design drawings, material specifications and procurement, and construction bid packages. Understands project execution plan, interface management, change management, construction sequencing, standards specifications and project schedule to support the project manager and/or company representative in the timely completion of project
  • Provide input to develop and prepare contracting plan and strategy for solicitation, evaluation, and award of contract for detail engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Coordinate activities and resolve issues among contractors and other parties to allow construction activities to progress according to plan and finalize mechanical completion.
  • Review and resolve day to day contractors’ claims and complaints related to the assigned project (mechanical) work during construction and ensure EHS compliance.
  • Review the project schedule, and coordinate and monitor the assigned project’s progress, and challenge below par performance of the contractor to ensure compliance to company standards, procedures and policies.
  • Complete technical studies and issue technical white papers on findings as required.
  • Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans.
  • Confers with management as required.
  • Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements.
  • Reviews bids from contractors.
  • Determines project specifications by studying process design, internal customer requirements, and performance standards.
  • Prepares cost estimates.
  • Confirms project performance by designing and conducting DOEs.
  • Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculates time requirements, sequences project elements.
  • Maintains schedule of assigned projects by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
  • Utilizes necessary project controls to maintain project plan by approving expenditures and administering contractor contracts.
  • Prepares project status reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends and recommending actions as required.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal, state and local regulations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group.
  • Ability to remain discreet and respectful.
  • Proficient with current SolidWorks design software and PDM.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of vendors, managers, designers, and engineers.
  • Strong process engineering aptitude.
  • Strong mechanical design and analytical skills.
  • Strong knowledge of hydrocarbon processing.
  • Ability to communicate to audiences of broad background.
  • Understanding of engineering best practices (design and operations).

  • Understanding of process operations best practices.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience working with an Engineering or E&P Company required.
  • Proven track record covering mechanical engineering integrity and maintenance in both operations and development project environments.
  • Working knowledge and demonstrable application of applicable international codes and standards (e.g. ASME, ANSI, ISO).
  • Experienced in operations and project start up, execution and close out of small to mid-scale projects (25 K -200 MM USD)

Certifications & Licenses:

  • Certified SolidWorks professional preferred

Physical & Safety Requirements:

  • Normal work environment will be a business office that will include physical demands such as prolonged periods sitting, standing, walking, pulling, pushing, stretching, twisting, reaching, kneeling, stooping, and bending with your body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Will occasionally require a site visit to an operating plant, construction site or fabrication shop. This may result in exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, work near moving mechanical parts, extreme heat generated by operating equipment, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles.
  • Must wear job specific personal protective equipment (PPE) while on site visits.
  • Participation in all safety and OSHA trainings.
  • Candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
