DescriptionThe Accounts Receivable Representative is responsible for following up on denied claims and outstanding account balances from all payors. Must be a Highly organized individual with excellent oral and written communication skills. The Accounts Receivable Representative must be able to work independently and when necessary, with other departments. RESPONSIBILITIES:Include but are not limited to:1. Locate and monitor overdue accounts2. Contact commercial/state insurance companies to check on status of claims payments and write appeal letters for denial on claims3. Knowledge of the CMS uniform billing manual4. Familiar with multi-faceted revenue and CPT codes5. Ability to understand explanation of benefits6. Ability to communicate effectively with all payors7. Knowledge of commercial based payor contracts.8. Understand workings of authorizations9. Knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare billing requirements10. Knowledge of auto insurance billing requirements11. Follow up on secondary billings12. Ensures HIPPA compliance and security of documents13. Various other duties as requestedREQUIREMENTS:1. Proficient computer skills2. Exceptional mathematical knowledge3. Exceptional communication skills4. Ability to respond to questions in a tactful and professional manner5. Strong problem-solving abilities6. Ability to persuade and influence7. Ability to be self-directed and work independently, yet contribute to team efforts as needed8. 1-2 years insurance related experienceRequirementsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:1. High school diploma2.  Solid working knowledge of medical:· Insurance· Terminology· Billing· Coding· Diagnosis3. 3-5 years’ experience in medical field4. Experience contacting insurance companies, and other entities as needed
