Summary:

The Specialist Transportation will be a member of a team responsible for planning and executing shipments daily across all business platforms. The Specialist will collaborate with various departments and individuals in the organization providing logistical support. Specialist Transportation must have strong initiative; maintain good planning skills and the ability to anticipate problems while developing a plan of action with emphasis of on time delivery.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Daily load building and routing based on corporate routing guide. Ensures least cost/best mode/best service carrier selections are made

Identifies and solves daily issues

Works with analyst to research and respond to transportation related inquiries including rate requests, order tracking/tracing and providing proof of delivery

Support the import/export of product to include commercial documentation generation

Recommend and drive process improvements in the routing, shipping and receiving process as it pertains to technology, reporting, etc.

Collaborate with DC, Customer Service, Receiving, Accounting and Planning on various needs, projects and tasks

Ability to tackle challenges with creativity

Ability to work in a self-directed team environment

Must demonstrate the ability to multitask, work with cross functional teams and have strong customer service skills

Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills

Meet company established goals on Safety

Perform additional duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

Bachelor Degree preferred – not required


Experience Requirements:

Preferred 3-5 years’ experience in transportation/distribution/carrier operations


Competencies:

Skills in SAP or similar ERP system

Efficient on navigation of internet and internet based software(s)

Demonstrated skills in use of Microsoft Office Software

Strong analytical skills and process focus with a bias towards results. Progressive, flexible and team oriented person required

Able to facilitate advanced problem-solving

Work Environment:

This job operates in both a professional and operation environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and production and or manufacturing equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines. You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms. Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty or have fumes. Worker may be exposed to ambient noise level in a manufacturing environment. Requiring the use of hearing protection. Worker exposed to physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts. Worker occasionally exposed to atmospheric conditions such as fumes and dust. Worker may be exposed to seasonal temperatures sufficiently high or low to cause bodily discomfort, activities occur inside.


Physical Demands:

Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less with the ability to judge distance and space relationships and bring objects into sharp focus. Requires continuous visual and mental attention. Predominately sedentary office position with high frequency of computer/keyboard work required (70%-80% of workday).
