Position:Staff Accountant

Reports to: Director of Finance

Location: Providence, RI (In-Person only)

Supervises: None

Type: Full-Time

Exempt / Non Exempt: Non-Exempt

Basic Function: The Staff Accountant is responsible for reconciling the general ledger and preparing schedules and journal entries accordingly.


Specific Duties (including but not limited to):

  • Preparing journal entries
  • Good understanding of GAAP accounting
  • Assisting with audit fieldwork for both operational and financial audits
  • Supporting month-end and year-end close
  • Preparing financial statements, journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Reconciling and balancing general ledger accounts
  • Researching and correcting account discrepancies


Education / Experience / Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2-4 years of experience as a staff accountant
  • Ability to function as an effective team member.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions and work on multiple projects at one time.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Professional attitude.
  • Knowledge of accounting software.
