Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to oversee our company's financial records and accounting personnel. This role involves maintaining all procedures and controls related to the company's financial accounts.
Responsibilities
**Construction:**
- Manage the transmittal of funds to contractors upon lender and management approval.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager on General Contractor Pay Application Reconciliation.
- Meet monthly with the Construction team to review Pending Change Orders (PCOs).
**Loans:**
- Coordinate the preparation of proof of equity.
- Update and manage the expected loan draw schedule.
- Oversee the review and approval of the final loan draw.
**Previous Projects Closeout:**
- Manage the schedule of deposits remaining in escrow.
- Report to investors as necessary.
- Conduct research related to associations, invoices, and payments as needed.
**All Entities:**
- Prepare files for tax preparers, answer their questions, and manage the status list of tax returns.
- Coordinate year-end journal entries and tax preparers’ year-end entries, then roll forward Yardi companies.
- Review 1099 spreadsheets.
- Set up new companies in accounting software and delegate access.
- Review operating agreements to understand capital contribution requirements and provide information to tax preparers.
- Review cash requirements and real estate tax spreadsheets.
- Prepare financial statements.
- Review tangible tax returns.
- Add new users to Yardi as necessary.
- Oversee the invoice approval process in Yardi.
- Review general ledger activity for respective projects.
**Bank Accounts:**
- Prepare and transmit requests to open new bank accounts.
- Manage bank-required schedules for wire transfers and online banking upon account openings.
- Update the master bank account spreadsheet upon opening new accounts.
- Manage staff access to online banking and update access as new accounts are added.
**Other Responsibilities:**
- Send wire transfers and process internal transfers for all bank accounts, emailing confirmations to the accounting team for Yardi entries.
- Manage transfers and wires for monthly administration and developer fees, update tracking spreadsheets, and provide transfer support to controllers/accountants for Yardi entries.
- Oversee the current Accounting staff and assess staffing needs in conjunction with the SVP of Accounting.
- Improve department processes and efficiencies with the SVP of Accounting.
- Provide ongoing training for Accounting Staff.
**Payroll and Insurance:**
- Manage employee-related insurance matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 7-10 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Yardi.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Knowledge of GAAP; CPA preferred.
- Strong written, verbal, and collaboration skills.
- Experience in Real Estate.
- A team player willing to support the accounting team and fellow members as needed.
