Housekeeping SupervisorThe Madison Concourse Hotel and Governor's Club is seeking a Housekeeping Supervisor to join our Housekeeping team This person assists the Director of Housekeeping to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions of the hotel.SummaryThe Housekeeping Supervisor ensures our guest accommodation and all areas front and back of house are maintained in a spotless condition at all times. They assume a very "hands-on" management of the day to day operation of the Housekeeping Department by establishing and controlling planned cleaning schedules and working closely with the Front Office to ensure that guest accommodations are ready in a timely manner to hotel standards. They assist trainers and inspectors with training and supervision of Housekeeping staff in support of the Assistant Housekeeping Manager and Director of Housekeeping.Wage : $20 per hourSchedule: Typical hours are from 9am-5pm, except Sunday 10am-6pm. Hours may vary depending on hotel occupancy, weekends are required.Requirements:Previous experience within the hospitality industry, preferably in Housekeeping.Ability to work on your feet, walk, climb stairs, lift, bend and stretch throughout the course of the entire scheduled shift.Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Provide leadership support and be readily accessible to staff.Supervise the housekeeping employees to attract, retain and motivate them while providing a safe work environment.Assist the Director of Housekeeping and/or the Assistant Housekeeping with the interviewing, scheduling, training, development, empowerment, coaching and counseling of staff.Conduct training and coaching sessions on chemical usage, departmental policies, and the various components of the Hay Adams Standards of Excellence.Respond to and follow through on guest requests, concerns and problems.Prepare staff work schedules based on present and anticipated occupancy levels and union guidelines.Prepare payroll to include extra earnings.Primarily responsible for the operation of the department in the absence of the Assistant Housekeeping Manager or the Director of Housekeeping.Review current standards, property and industry-wide, and makes recommendations for review or change.Assists in the inventory of supplies and equipment.Assists in the investigation of new and improved cleaning instruments and methods.Perform other functions as required and directed.Qualifications:Ability to prioritize and organize workload to ensure deadlines are met.Ability to evaluate and improve the performance of others.Ability to provide clear direction and guidance to team members.Ability to communicate effectively to team members - Bi-Lingual language skills are a plus.Qualified applicants must be able to complete a pre-employment drug test, background check and reference checks.
