Reporting directly to the MTS Segment Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) with a matrix line to Business Operations Finance, you will play a critical role in driving value across the segment through disciplined financial management, operational excellence, and continuous process improvement. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in U.S. GAAP and U.S. government contracting, thrives in a globally matrixed environment, and demonstrates a proactive, ownership-driven approach to delivering results.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the custodian of the Business Unit (BU) financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and KBR accounting policies and proceduresLead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, coordinating across FP&A, Project Planning & Control (PP&C), and BU Controller teams to deliver timely and reliable resultsOversee general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and journal entries, maintaining precise awareness of all balance sheet elements and ensuring proper period recognition, impairment assessments, and documentationCollaborate with FP&A and PP&C teams to review management reports, perform variance analyses, and align budgets and forecasts with accounting positionsManage BU receivables and payables in coordination with Business Operations Finance to optimize cash flow performancePrepare and review BU financial statements in close coordination with the Segment CAO and Corporate AccountingIdentify, evaluate, and document technical and judgmental accounting matters, engaging with Business Operations Finance and the Segment CAO for timely resolution and alignmentPrepare and review Revenue Recognition Evaluation Templates and Memos, ensuring adherence to SOX controls and coordination with KBR Technical AccountingReview and approve monthly and quarterly accrual entries, including significant subcontractor accrualsOversee accounting for BU joint ventures and maintain control of petty cash accounts and employee receivables, where applicableEnsure compliance with backlog and remaining performance obligation (RPO) policies, documenting significant judgments and escalating as requiredTrack and manage BU unallowable cost reserves, incurred cost proposal accruals, legal reserves, and claims, ensuring proper documentation and review with the Segment CAOLead the development, enhancement, and maintenance of internal controls at the BU level in coordination with the Segment SOX team, ensuring compliance with all financial process documentation and control requirementsEnsure statutory financial statements for legal entities within the BU are prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable local statutory reporting standardsPartner with Government Compliance and the Segment CAO to ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and CAS requirementsReview BU revenue impacts from indirect rate variances, recommending updates to target indirect rates and revenue recognition as neededServe as the BU lease accounting lead, reviewing new lease arrangements and monthly reconciliations between the general ledger and lease accounting systemsProvide technical accounting and cash flow modeling support for bid and proposal activitiesCollaborate with the Segment CAO and Corporate Accounting to design and maintain standardized accounting processes and tools that promote efficiency and scalabilityCoordinate with Treasury to address foreign currency exposures and with Tax to ensure proper application of domestic and international tax requirementsSupport timely responses to internal, external, and government audit requestsBasic QualificationsEducation & Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field7+ years of accounting experience in a senior accounting role with a focus on operational accounting including 5+ years of experience in a leadership or management roleCPA or CFA preferred but not requiredFinancial Expertise:Experience in a government contracting environment with working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and government contract accounting, including familiarity with FAR, DFARS, and CAS requirementsDemonstrated proficiency in accounting systems and reporting tools such as Costpoint and Cognos, with strong data analysis and reporting capabilitiesSelf-starter with a proactive approach, taking initiative to research complex issues, develop solutions, and drive more efficient and accurate resultsExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracyAbility to work independently and lead cross-functional projects within a global matrix organizationStrong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage senior and executive managementComfortable synthesizing complex financial information into concise, actionable insights for leadershipProven ability to build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships across Finance, Operations, and Corporate teamsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly ExcelAbility to travel to other KBR offices within the United States as neededPreferred Qualifications:Experience with Oracle FCCS applicationAdditional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or
