Process Safety Engineer


This position has supervisory / lead responsibility over a group of process safety engineers or functions as a technical specialist who develops and applies advanced process safety engineering concepts and approaches to unusual or exceptionally complex engineering problems. This position requires minimal supervision to accomplish tasks. Skill set should include experience supporting the following activities: facilitate process safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP), dispersion modelling, plot plan safety reviews. This individual also has a firm understanding of Building Siting Studies / QRA's.


Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Under broad direction, functions as a technical specialist who makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have a far-reaching impact on extensive engineering and related activities of the company.
  • Negotiates critical and controversial issues with top-level engineers and officers of other organizations and companies.
  • Performs advisory and consulting work for the organization as a recognized authority for broad program areas or in an intensely specialized area.
  • Job roles contribute directly to value creation.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Oil & Gas and/or Petrochemical industry experience is very relevant to for this role
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years related experience, with an average experience of 15+ years.
  • Experience in HAZID, Pre-Hazard Analysis (PHAs), HAZOPs, LOPAs, Building Risk Assessments, Firewater Demands, Spacing and Layout, FBDs, PI&Ds review, and process safety related modeling, flare safety and flame out scenarios.
