SUMMARY

Creative Movement Instructors are responsible for teaching tot’s, creative movement and pre-ballet dance classes for children between the ages of 4-7. Classes are taught within a structured setting with live music and sensitivity towards classical ballet.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Create a welcoming, healthy and safe learning environment for all students, allowing them to grow and learn by setting class-based rules and boundaries centered on mutual respect, understanding and class etiquette

Prepare and teach stimulating classes in classical ballet to students ages 4-7.

Plan, prepare and deliver lessons plans per the PNB syllabus

Explain and demonstrate proper techniques

Engage students while delivering information clearly, concisely, and effectively

Serve as a positive role model

Create choreography for annual Petite Finale and select accompanying music

Maintain student attendance records

Demonstrate sensitivity to emotional needs and learning styles of students

Collaborate with other members of the faculty, staff, and Accompanists to meet the needs of the students

Participate in faculty, staff, and syllabus meetings

Communicate effectively with Directors, School Principals and colleagues either in person, through email or video communications

Support school-wide initiatives and programs

Attend and lead student conferences when asked



QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED

3-5 years related experience in executive support role with progressive responsibilities.

Prior experience working with students ages 4-7

Passion for children and dance

Strong professional work ethic, professional demeanor/behavior

Exhibit strong sense of leadership, self-confidence and comprehensive knowledge of classical ballet technique

Demonstrated knowledge of different teaching styles and syllabuses

Clear knowledge and understanding of ballet vocabulary

Reliable, accountable, responsible, adaptable and flexible

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate

Professional and resourceful, with the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative and manage multiple deadline-driven tasks and projects simultaneously.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the entire body such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials (such as props, costumes, etc.).

Frequently required to walk or stand; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear (required for performance, teaching, listening to music, choreography, etc.).

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate



Pay Range: $49.00 - $50.00/hour; Hourly, Non-Exempt ($27.43/hour planning & meeting rate)

Benefits: This is a part-time, non-benefitted position working up to 2-12/week

Availability: Must be available to work Saturdays between 9:00am – 12:00pm and/or weekdays between 3:30pm – 6:00pm.

Locations: Seattle, WA and Bellevue, WA
