LongPath is seeking an experienced Opto-Mechanical Engineer to work on all aspects of our laser spectrometer, including robust optomechanical design, prototype development and testing, and design for manufacturability. The ideal candidate will be excited to take a great deal of ownership from specifications to final design and work well in a dynamic team. We are a small and fast-growing company, so the position offers a large amount of both freedom and responsibility

What You’ll Do

• Design mechanical assemblies in CAD

• Hands on assembly and test of prototypes

• Thermodynamic analysis to ensure stability over a range of environmental conditions

• Optimize designs for manufacturability and ease of assembly, including tolerance analysis

 

What You’ll Need

• SolidWorks mastery

• Optomechanical design experience with free-space optics

• Thermodynamic analysis experience, including the ability to perform back of the envelope sanity checks

• FEA experience

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills with a wide range of individual stakeholders, including non-engineers

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field

 

Desired Skills

• Optical lab techniques

• Zemax experience

 

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in an office/laboratory environment in Boulder, CO

• Must be authorized to work for any employer in US (no sponsorship)

• Salary range is $90-110k

• Equity grant
