Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Head of Data Science is a visionary leader responsible for setting the overall data science strategy and direction of the company. This role oversees the development and implementation of cutting-edge AI technologies and solutions, ensuring they align with business goals and meet client needs. This role will be part of a lean tech team that will guide the business through highly accelerated growth and provide a technology roadmap both internal and external to support that success.


We are looking for a creative thinker with the technical knowledge to lead and come up with innovative ideas for the applications of Data Science and AI. The ideal person is intellectually curious, persistent with the details, mathematically and technically capable, a strong communicator who can converse with AI experts and business partners and has an entrepreneurial spirit to push the frontiers of what is possible in the application of AI across a variety of domains.


You will partner with business stakeholders to identify/prioritize top data science opportunities, create business/technical requirements, transform large volumes of data into data science / AI-driven solutions using creative, cutting-edge open-source methods/technologies, lead data science strategy and road map planning, work across teams and influence the direction of data and advanced analytics at the firm. The ideal candidate will combine expert data science knowledge with hands-on experience building algorithms/models/programming and outstanding business skills (revenue/cost drivers, customer experience, customer journey, communication, etc.) to manage and deliver complex/critical projects driving significant value to clients.


The successful candidate must excel in working in a highly collaborative environment together with the business, software engineers, analysts, and other partners to deploy solutions into production. We expect the successful candidate to have a strong passion for data science, AI and machine learning and invest independent time towards learning, researching, and experimenting with new innovations in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with engineering groups to identify, evaluate, and implement new AI technologies and methodologies.
  • Serve as a technical and thought leader for the Data Science organization and grow the technical capabilities of the team. Stay connected with the latest trends in data science applications and technologies.
  • Ensure the technical excellence and quality of AI solutions delivered to clients.
  • Evangelize the application of data science and energize both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Set and execute the strategy and appropriate organizational structures for the Data Science organization.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of current and emerging AI technologies and their practical applications
  • 7+ years of experience managing a team of analysts, data scientists.
  • Experience in cross-functional partnership among teams of Engineering, Design, PM, Data Engineering
  • Experience initiating and driving projects to completion autonomously.
  • Experience and track record influencing cross-org decisions.
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
  • Preferable advanced degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or a related field
