As a Senior Data Scientist at Alight, you are skilled in transforming data into actionable insights and developing scalable data-driven solutions. You utilize technical expertise, strategic thinking, and collaboration skills to drive impact. Your responsibilities include leading end-to-end machine learning projects, adhering to scientific best practices, and collaborating with stakeholders to align solutions with business goals. Additionally, you stay informed about ML and AI advancements, experiment with new techniques, and provide mentorship to fellow data scientists to foster a culture of continuous learning and excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end machine learning projects, ensuring adherence to scientific best practices.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional partners to integrate data-driven solutions into existing processes and identify new opportunities for impact.
  • Spearhead the design, training, and deployment of advanced algorithms to enhance employee awareness and utilization of benefits.
  • Utilize statistical modeling and controlled experiments to deliver actionable insights for business strategies and product development.
  • Accelerate team productivity by providing technical mentorship, contributing to internal tooling, and staying updated on recent advancements in ML and AI.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (PhD or Master's) in a quantitative field (science, math, engineering, etc.).
  • 3+ years of experience driving impact on cross-functional data science projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build trusting relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, taking ownership of projects and driving them forward.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Strong knowledge of traditional machine learning, with experience in NLP and deep learning considered advantageous.
  • Experience in designing, deploying, and evaluating generative AI applications.
  • Familiarity with common model and service deployment frameworks.
  • Experience mentoring other data scientists and promoting a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
  • Passion for continuous learning and the ability to quickly understand the complex space of benefits administration.
