Duration: Full-time – direct hire
Location: Kent, WA
Work Schedule: Monday thru Thursday at 2:00 PM - 12:30 AM PST (+ $.50 hr. for 2nd shift differential - 2nd Shift probability after initial training)
POSITION PURPOSE:
Non Destructive Testing Technician performs multiple NDT methods, interprets and documents NDT results, and maintains production NDT equipment that supports overhaul and repair of Allison and Hamilton Standard aircraft propeller systems to airworthiness. This includes evaluation, disassembly, inspection, and test per Manual, Service Bulletin and Directives, and other duties in standard time.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Establish and maintain techniques to properly examine the hardware, ensuring adherence to all safety and specification requirements.
Perform inspections using Magna Flux (MT), Eddy Current (ET)), and Penetrant Test (PT).
Interpret inspection results and apply acceptance criteria identified on drawing or shop work order.
Perform all necessary daily, weekly, and monthly process control checks.
Document and organize inspection results.
Interface and communicate with engineers to describe inspection results.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Obsessive attention to detail, ability to balance multiple work assignments; organized work habits; and ability to work independently.
Able to read, understand, and follow aircraft manuals and other directions written in the English language.
Ability to correctly complete paperwork in compliance with work orders and job manuals.
Must be able to use hand tools, micrometers, air gauges, and other special tools.
Ability to read manuals and have basic math for mechanical measurements.
Must be able to read and understand technical documentation.
Applies common sense understanding to carry out detailed and complicated written or oral instructions.
Able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
Proficiency with major software programs: e.g., Made 2 Manage.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School graduate
NDT Level II Certification – in at least 2 methods
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
1 to 3 years experience with the following:
Aerospace-related experience; military aircraft maintenance experience; prop maintenance experience.
NAS 410 Level II certification in Magna Flux (MT), Penetrant (PT), Eddy Current (ET), Ultrasonic (UT), and Straight Beam, with direct experience in inspecting and interpreting aluminum forgings.
