Position Overview:

The Principal Metallurgy Engineer plays a key role in defining essential fabrication requirements for selected materials. This includes overseeing forging, welding, heat treatment, corrosion testing, and nondestructive testing processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Material Selection: Develop and review material selections for various projects.
  • Specification Review: Analyze customer specifications and drawings to ensure proper material implementation.
  • Inspection Oversight: Review inspection plans for equipment involving special material requirements.
  • Problem Solving: Coordinate projects to address issues related to material processing, coating, and heat treatment.
  • Titanium Processing: Oversee titanium processing, including melting, forging, and machining, working closely with vendors alongside procurement and project management teams.
  • Material Testing: Coordinate and review material testing procedures.
  • Deviation Management: Assist with resolving deviated material and concession requests.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze data to determine optimal solutions or recommend actions.
  • Vendor Collaboration: Work with the supply chain to identify and qualify materials-related vendors.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.


Availability:

  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, with occasional adjustments based on project and customer needs.

  • Adherence: Follow company policies, including the Employee Handbook and Site QMS system.


Competencies:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Discretion with sensitive business-related materials.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required; an advanced degree in materials or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience: 5-7 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in the oil & gas sector.


Skills:

  • General knowledge of welding, machining, and coating applications.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a focus on organization and innovation.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.
  • Ability to read blueprints and industry specifications.


Work Environment:

  • Primarily indoor work in a smoke-free office and manufacturing facility, with occasional outdoor activities.
  • Limited travel required to support offsite personnel and business projects.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be necessary.
  • The noise level is typically moderate, with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts.


Physical Demands:

  • Primarily office-based, with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Must pass a drug screen, background check, and meet the physical requirements of the position.
