Engineering Manager will be responsible for the management of a Business Unit (BU) new product development engineering group to execute engineering projects that meet customer, regulatory and company quality requirements along with supporting the BU cross functional team in production, sales & material related topics.


Engineering Manager Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for the direction of others: Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of engineers within the BU
  • Work requires application of intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields
  • Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods, and represents the organization to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work
  • Plans, develops and/or coordinates, and directs engineering projects with many complex features within the engineering group to meet company & project specific objectives
  • Carries out complex or novel research assignment requiring development of new or improved techniques and procedures.
  • Estimates manpower needs, schedules, prioritizes, and assigns work to meet target completion dates
  • Actively participate in weekly Customer Support Team (CST) cross functional meetings to support the business unit
  • Generate and administer annual performance reviews for engineering group members, make salary adjustment recommendations within company guidelines, define job performance expectations for next 12-month evaluation period, identify group member skills/training needs, recommend improvement plans, and implement approved plans
  • Generate Monthly Reports on projects progress/go forward plans to company and corporate staff
  • Review and approve group generated engineering documents (proposals, cost estimates, drawings, specifications, reports, etc.) and engineering purchase authorizations
  • Actively participate in significant customer, supplier technical and programmatic meetings
  • Work closely with Sales and Engineering Test Lab to achieve company customer satisfaction goals
  • Drive group members to regularly report significant customer communications, project progress/milestones, scope creep and meet project cost, schedule and product ability requirements
  • Identify, propose and implement approved engineering process improvements and capital acquisitions for productivity purposes
  • Actively seek, identify and communicates new product opportunities during customer visits/contacts
  • Complies and conducts business in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Promotes ethical behavior by acting with honesty and integrity
  • Perform other duties as required


Engineering Manager Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum required in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • 10+ years' experience in product design or engineering focus
  • Prior engineering management experience highly preferred
  • Experience in a regulatory field/industry such as medical, aerospace, etc required
  • Ability to navigate through issues, interpret and define into clear recommendations
  • Ability to multi-task and operate within a multi-product segment
