SUMMARY
Analyst, Allocation is responsible for allocating the right amount of product to the right stores at the right time to influence and increase sales and customer satisfaction. Collaborates with business partners throughout the Merchandising department to determine product placement for stores. Aligns products with assortment needs based on purchase orders, product amounts and flow from the warehouse, and transfer products as needed. Utilize sales, demographic, and market data and trends to determine allocation needs as well as store inventory levels and product content and assortment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor products adjusting allocation as necessary based on sales and customer data. Ensure stores have enough product, monitor sales.
- Allocate new products to stores, determine how much product needs to go to what stores and at what time to maximize selling a profitability.
- Work with the assortment planners to allocate floor sets based on store grades and width and depth plans bought by the buyers.
- Manage and monitor the inventory at the warehouse.
- Push out existing inventory from the warehouse to the right stores. Transfer products from one store to another based on data and trends.
- Ensure new stores are opened at the planned inventory levels and maintain an acceptable product mix from store opening through first year. Build new stores with inventory based on sales, market, and demographic data to ensure profitability.
- Collect data and information about products.
- Work with the buying team to split purchase orders for fulfillment.
- Communicate with other Allocators to perfect best practices.
- Create and analyze reports to make allocation decisions.
- Attend vendor meetings and assist in building an assortment of products. Establish past, present, and future goals and tasks to better the team.
- Utilize customer and sales data to determine needs of stores such as inventory levels, market trends, and product assortment. Identify trends of current and past products.
- Respond to District Manager and operations feedback and requests regarding quantities and assortments.
- Participate in End of Month and End of Quarter meetings and provide category specific analysis and recommendations.
- Periodically travel to store locations to review product mix, obtain feedback, and analyze market competition and trends.
- Ensure outfits and complementary products are coordinated at the store level.
- Find opportunities for store growth through inventory.
- Calculate performance metrics per store per item.
- Manage and balance store inventory levels for existing stores and new store openings.
- Research and analyze through the customer and sales data to determine where to place products and communicate this logic to business partners.
- Collaborate with buyers and planners to help execute the merchandising vision, while adding to that vision with inventory management knowledge and tools. Ensuring the merchandising vision is adequately represented at stores.
- Utilize programs like BY, MMS, and BI to allocate products in a timely manner and access customer data and current product performance.
- Handle any inventory management issues at the store level, including mis-ships, improper system information, and Return to Vendors.
- Ensure product levels in each store stay consistent to the allocation plan and are distributed accordingly to optimize sales and store success for each store type, adjusting the plan as needed based on customer and sales data.
- Protects the companys assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in Merchandising or a related field or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years of experience working in inventory management, specifically for retail and footwear.
- Strong communication and analytical skills, ability to make decisions based on trends and data.
