This leader plays a central role in driving innovation, improving technical capabilities, and delivering profitable growth through new technologies and customer-focused solutions.Working closely with the Product Management, Commercial, and Operations teams, the Director of Engineering ensures that engineering strategies align with business goals, customer expectations, and manufacturing realities. technology gaps and define new development opportunitiesNew Product DevelopmentOversee the end-to-end product development cyclefrom concept definition through design, testing, and launchPartner with the Product Management team to ensure engineering deliverables align with product roadmaps and market needsDrive time-to-market improvements by streamlining design reviews, prototyping, and validation processesImplement design-for-manufacturability principles to ensure smooth handoffs to OperationsEncourage iterative development and fast learning cycles to accelerate product innovationSustaining EngineeringLead efforts to continuously enhance existing products for reliability, performance, and serviceabilityPartner with Operations and Quality teams to address production issues and implement design improvements that reduce costs and complexitySupport commercial teams by resolving customer-specific engineering issues efficiently and effectivelyUse data-driven analysis to guide product updates, ensuring customer satisfaction and long-term product profitabilityOrder EngineeringOversee the engineering support process for custom or configuration-based customer ordersDevelop standardized tools and digital systems to speed up quoting, design, and approval cyclesEnsure designs meet customer requirements while maintaining manufacturability and cost targetsWork closely with Commercial and Operations teams to deliver engineered solutions that strengthen customer relationshipsCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with the Commercial team to provide technical support during the sales process, helping define feasible, profitable solutionsCollaborate with Operations to align product designs with production capabilities and capacity planningServe as a bridge between engineering and business functions, ensuring shared accountability for resultsOperational ExcellenceManage budgets, staffing plans, and key performance metrics to ensure efficiency and productivityImplement modern engineering tools, processes, and KPI frameworks that drive clarity and continuous improvementChampion Lean principles and digital transformation initiatives to streamline workflowsEstablish strong project management discipline, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery of engineering projectsWhat We Are Looking For (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education)We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:Required Experience10 plus years of progressive experience leading engineering and product development teams preferably in an industrial environmentPreferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organizational alignmentDemonstrated knowledge and interest in new and emerging technologies and engineering development toolsDemonstrated experience with software development/managementProven experience improving engineering processes and reducing NPI cycle timesPrior experience leading with a Design for Manufacturing approach for both legacy products and new designsExperience with effectively leading teams through changeExperience working alongside external parties to deliver on new products as well as support existing products from a hardware and software perspectivePrior experience managing product development within budget and on timeStrong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneouslyProcess orientation and disposition toward continuous improvementExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals of varying backgrounds, with and without a technical backgroundStrong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and effectively implement changesAbility to collaborate with cross-functional teams at all levels and present data and recommendationsHands-on leadership with
