Manufacturing Engineer

Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description As a Manufacturing Engineer based in Lafayette, IN, you will join a dynamic machine shop team dedicated to supporting large engine production within the heavy machinery industry. Your primary objective will be to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness across our operations. Responsibilities Eliminate suspended load risks by implementing new lifting techniques. Collaborate on safety incident prevention and corrective actions. Introduce lifting devices to minimize manual handling of heavy parts. Troubleshoot tooling and process issues using PFMEA, Power BI, and data analysis. Improve deburring and de-rusting processes to enhance cycle time and product quality. Interpret engineering drawings and reports to ensure standards are met. Reduce machine cycle times through tooling and layout improvements. Collaborate with suppliers to extend tool life and reduce costs. Conduct time and motion studies to enhance production rates. Create workflow diagrams, standard work instructions, and job aids. Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for the 3500 Block line. Essential Skills Expertise in manufacturing engineering and manufacturing processes. Proficiency in tooling techniques. Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Manufacturing or similar). 1-2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Proficient in using PFMEA, Power BI, and data analysis tools. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical reports. Work Environment This position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, first shift, with a total of 40 hours per week. The role is 100% onsite, with an estimated 60% of the time spent at a desk and 40% in the shop. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Lafayette, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
