Job Summary: The Superintendent in Hospitality Construction oversees the successful execution of ground-up construction projects and interior renovations within high-end restaurants, ensuring adherence to design specifications, quality standards, and project timelines. This role requires a blend of construction expertise, project management skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results in the hospitality sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Execution:
  • Lead the planning and execution of ground-up construction projects and interior renovations, collaborating with architects, designers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Develop detailed project schedules, work plans, and budgets, allocating resources effectively to meet project milestones and deadlines.
  • Monitor construction progress, identify potential issues or delays, and implement proactive measures to keep projects on track and within budget.
  1. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
  • Ensure that construction activities comply with building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards, maintaining a safe and secure work environment for all stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality control checks to verify compliance with design specifications, material quality, and craftsmanship standards.
  • Address any deviations or deficiencies promptly, coordinating with project teams to implement corrective actions and maintain quality assurance.
  1. Stakeholder Management:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including owners, developers, consultants, and subcontractors, fostering positive relationships and clear communication channels.
  • Facilitate project meetings, progress updates, and milestone reviews, keeping stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the construction process.
  • Manage subcontractor relationships, ensuring timely delivery of services, adherence to contractual obligations, and resolution of any disputes or conflicts.
  1. Cost Control and Budget Management:
  • Monitor project budgets, expenses, and financial performance metrics, identifying variances and implementing cost-saving measures where possible.
  • Review change orders, purchase orders, and subcontractor agreements for accuracy and alignment with project objectives and budget constraints.
  • Provide regular financial reports and updates to project stakeholders, highlighting key financial metrics and forecasting future expenditures as needed.
  1. Risk Management and Mitigation:
  • Identify potential risks and challenges associated with construction projects, such as weather delays, material shortages, or regulatory issues, and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, permits, drawings, and correspondence, to support risk management efforts and ensure legal compliance.
  • Implement safety protocols and emergency procedures to mitigate health and safety risks for construction personnel and site visitors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in construction management, with a focus on hospitality projects, including ground-up construction and interior renovations.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, building systems, and industry best practices, with a keen eye for detail and quality.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools for scheduling, budgeting, and document management (e.g., Procore, Primavera, Bluebeam).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and resolve conflicts diplomatically.

Additional Requirements:

  • Certification in construction management or project management (e.g., PMP, CMIT) preferred.
  • Familiarity with LEED and sustainable building practices is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and work flexible hours as required to accommodate construction schedules and deadlines.
