Whistle Express is a leading and rapidly expanding express car wash operator in the U.S. Whistle Express operates car washes with locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Whistle is focused on building upon its established market position in the Southeast.

 

We’re looking for people with a strong background in data engineering and analytics to help us scale while maintaining correct and complete data. You’ll be working with a variety of internal teams -- Engineering, Finance, Marketing, Operations -- to help them solve their data needs.

 

The Data Science team builds data and intelligence into our Finance, Marketing, and operations. This spans across building data foundations and applying statistical techniques and machine learning to measure and optimize our product, build data-driven products, and conduct in-depth analysis to inform strategic decisions.

 

  • Duties and Responsibilities
  • Designing, developing, and modifying data infrastructure to accelerate the processes of data analysis and reporting
  • Maintaining data management plans and instructions for operating complex business systems
  • Overseeing the integration of new technologies and initiatives into data standards and structures
  • Ensuring data and information security by integrating and upholding digital security systems
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and organize large amounts of data
  • In-depth understanding of modern database and information technologies
  • Ability to compile and organize findings and data retrieved before presenting it to management
  • Thorough understanding of management and data administration duties such as collection, analysis, and distribution

 

Requirements and Skills

  • Proven experience as data manager or Lead Data Engineer
  • Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions (collection, analysis, distribution etc.)
  • Familiarity with modern database and information system technologies
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Access, Word etc.)
  • An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Extensive experience writing SQL queries and developing stored procedures.
  • Experience troubleshooting import/export errors of data in SQL Server.
  • No true Azure experience. Experience in Azure DevOps, and willing to learn the broader platform and services of Azure.
  • Experience doing data mapping, data migration, data validation, and report building.
  • 6+ years of Python or Java development experience
  • 6+ years of SQL experience
  • 6+ years of experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling
