OVERVIEW:

The System Design Staff Engineer will be responsible for developing system and subsystem designs, software requirements, and integration and verification testing. The engineer will ensure that designs are fully defined, traceable, and validated through comprehensive testing, down to the component and software requirements level. Timely completion of tasks and the delivery of high-quality products are critical in this role.

RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Develop and manage system and subsystem-level requirements, ensuring traceability down to the component level.
  • Capture and review connectivity diagrams at the system and subsystem levels using various modeling tools.
  • Describe platform behaviors through SYSML diagrams and other appropriate methods.
  • Develop and execute vehicle and subsystem-level integration, test, and verification plans.
  • Integrate various components into established vehicle architectures.
  • Provide cross-functional support to other teams and departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 7+ years of related engineering experience (fewer years considered with an advanced degree).
  • Experience in developing system requirements, system specifications, and ensuring requirements compliance based on high-level customer specifications.
  • Strong skills in developing system designs decomposed to the component level, ensuring compliance with system requirements and design definitions.
  • Experience in developing subsystem requirements based on allocated system requirements.
  • Proficiency with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and system modeling tools (e.g., Cameo or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with electrical design capture tools (e.g., Capital Logic or equivalent).
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORs or similar platforms.
  • Ability to work in diverse environments, including office, shop, test lab, and test site settings, as well as within vehicles.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements for working in and around vehicles, including passing the Anthropometric Size Requirement (ASR) test for confined spaces.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance, if required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience in the defense industry, particularly with land-based systems and working with the U.S. government as a customer.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work occasional evening and weekend overtime as needed.
