Founded in 2019 the Cohere team has a combined and specialized experience of over 50 years investing in and working with growth companies. Currently investing out of a committed fund with an institutional investor base. 


Position Description


Cohere is looking for a proactive and hard-working individual to join our lean and collaborative team in Boston. The Analyst, Business Development will play a critical role in the development and growth of new investment opportunities and management of intermediary and target company relationships. The individual will report to and work directly with Mike Alberts, Head of Business Development, managing the firm’s intermediary relationship network, data input and management, and firm marketing initiatives. Additionally, the individual will get exposure to other members of the Cohere team and will be a critical element of the relationship building and origination functions of the firm.


Position Responsibilities:


The Analyst, Business Development will have a position scope that includes, but is not limited to, the following:


  • Lead and manage the quality of CRM database and develop analytical insight reports
  • Support origination and new investment development efforts (e.g., NDA and document processing, pipeline management, conference / meeting preparation, targeted intermediary outreach efforts)
  • Develop, maintain, and track emails, newsletters, social media campaigns, and other marketing tools to reach the intermediary network
  • Develop deal origination, marketing, and investor relations presentations and other marketing materials
  • Be an expert on firm background, investment criteria, process, and track records, to establish credibility and articulate our value proposition with intermediary community
  • Participate in the firm’s proactive deal outreach efforts, establish, and maintain direct relationships with key deal professionals


Qualifications:

 

  • Undergraduate degree with at least a 3.0 GPA
  • 1-4 years’ experience in financial services (wealth / investment management, etc.), B2B sales or operations, investment banking, or consulting
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced team-based environment
  • Strong written and communication skills with a heightened attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office (Excel / PowerPoint), CRMs, and other online applications
  • Self-motivator, entrepreneurial and team player who can anticipate the needs of the team
  • Positive attitude with a strong desire to learn and grow
  • Basic understanding of business valuation methodologies, ability to read an interpret financial statements and be capable of articulating the fundamental merits and weaknesses of a potential investment opportunity a plus, but not a requirement
