Job Title: RF Network Design Engineer

Location: Plano, Texas


Job Summary:

Seeking a highly skilled and experienced RF Network Design Engineer with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in radio network design, implementation, and tuning/optimization systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, technical expertise in a variety of wireless technologies, and excellent communication skills.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical activities for multiple projects, including at least one large-scale project covering major metropolitan or statewide geographic areas.
  • Organize and oversee technical work, ensuring effective communication with team members, project managers, and customers.
  • Work with various services such as 5G NR, Massive MIMO, mmWave, LAA (License Assisted Access), 4G LTE, IoT, CBRS, and multi-vendor environments.
  • Understand and analyze Layer 3 messages for 4G and 5G networks.
  • Perform event analysis to address accessibility, retainability, and handover success rate issues.


Design Responsibilities:

  • Utilize planning tools such as Planet EV and Atoll for network design.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the link budget.
  • Create new projects in planning tools, including tilt/azimuth optimization and proposing new site locations.
  • Use ACP (Automatic Cell Planning) tools.
  • Make recommendations to improve network design (cell plan).
  • Perform Monte Carlo Analysis and model tuning.
  • Identify add-on sales opportunities.
  • Recommend parameter changes and feature activations based on drive test data to enhance system performance.
  • Use optimization tools such as TEMS Investigation, Actix, Agilent, and R&S.
  • Tune loaded networks and differentiate between artificial and real traffic loading.
  • Collect and analyze drive data and performance statistics to resolve complex issues.
  • Understand the impact of IRAT procedures on overall network quality.
  • Suggest improvements to optimization tools.
  • Assess the impact of adding additional carriers on the network, including 5G.


Optimization Responsibilities:

  • Implement and experiment with RAN features related to traffic analysis.
  • Optimize the relationship between handovers and network capacity.
  • Operate and utilize optimization tools within ENM.
  • Analyze KPIs and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Perform enhanced uplink tuning.
  • Optimize LTE/5G networks.


Additional Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the US.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing project and customer expectations.
  • Coordinate activities with various departments, divisions, and companies.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in radio network design and optimization.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing technical projects.
  • Strong understanding of wireless technologies and optimization tools.
  • Ability to perform detailed analysis and provide actionable recommendations.
