POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) will oversee and optimize all aspects of the revenue cycle process within the FYZICAL organization. This role is critical for ensuring efficient management of patient access, including eligibility verification and prior authorizations, billing, collections, and revenue integrity. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise to improve financial performance, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The director maintains strong relationships with the clinical counterparts, payer representatives, and other FYZICAL system offices that are affiliated and impact Revenue Cycle for both company-owned clinics and our clients. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Develop and implement RCM strategies that align with the organization and our client's financial goals.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the RCM team to enhance performance and professional growth. 
  • Establish and foster a culture focused on delivering high-quality customer service and satisfaction. 

Revenue Cycle Operations:

  • Oversee end-to-end revenue cycle processes and policies including patient registration, billing, collections, and accounts receivable management to:
  1. Follow up on all rejected and unpaid claims and incorrectly paid claims in a timely manner
  2. Minimize or eliminate unnecessary write-offs
  3. Decrease the days in A/R
  4. Maximize reimbursement by seeing to it that it is accurate and timely; assist in addressing payer issue trends and monitor changes in governmental reimbursement. 
  5. Implement and maintain standard work through RCM
  6. Streamline and optimize the patient experience through improved financial counseling processes, increased financial transparency and patient-friendly billing practices.
  • Hands-on management of all billing programs, systems, processes, and third-party vendors to ensure accurate, timely, and well-controlled activities related to billing, collections, education, and support.
  • Develop, monitor, and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) to optimize revenue cycle efficiency.
  • Effectively implement denial management reduction through process improvements, coordinating directly or indirectly, with internal teams and offices to improve workflows and provide training and education.
  • Provide effective supervision and coaching to all assigned employees, including training new employees, and providing continued education.
  • Develop effective onboarding and coaching programs for all clients and their employees as well as delivering continuing education. 
  • Resolve complex billing issues by communicating appropriate guidance to the billing team and see to it that billing practices are consistent with internal policies and external payer requirements
  • Monitor the performance of external vendors including developing goals and strategies to meet collection objectives

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and payer regulations related to revenue cycle management.
  • Implement internal controls to minimize revenue leakage and mitigate risk.
  • Understanding of physical therapy governmental billing and payer rules and requirements as well as the 8-minute rule. 

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and finance teams to streamline processes and enhance patient and client experience.
  • Serve as a liaison between the organization and payers to address billing inquiries and disputes.
  • Work closely with RCM clients to ensure adequate training and appropriate front-end processes are established. 

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management regarding revenue cycle performance and initiatives.
  • Develop and provide reporting to clients and facilitate the identification of trends that require attention or remediation. 

Technology & Innovation:

  • Assess and implement technology solutions to enhance RCM processes and reporting capabilities.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to drive innovation within the RCM function

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Leads by example and exhibits solid teamwork while promoting the core philosophy of FYZICAL.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.

Experience: 10+ years of experience in revenue cycle management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within a healthcare setting. Prompt EMR and BI experience desired, but not required. 

Knowledge: Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement models, regulatory requirements, and RCM best practices.

Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities; strong leadership and communication skills; proficiency in RCM software and financial management systems.


EXPECTED WORK HOURS

Monday through Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Some night and weekend work may be required.

Some offices have extended hours which can range from 6:00 am-7:00 pm or may be open on Saturday.
