Job Summary:
Epitec is seeking a contract Attorney resource to support and provide legal counseling to Arity, a remote data analytics company focused on improving transportation. This person must be senior with experience in data and technology contracts and product development. Ideally seeking someone creative and high energy interested in working at the nexus of law, business, technology, data, and consumers.
This attorney will work closely with the business operations team to support Arity sales in
the execution of all of its sales contracts, including determining which attorney resource on the team will handle which deal and drafting and negotiating complex transactions. This role will require organization, project management skills, and advanced transactional experience. The business team requires someone with clear communication skills and ability to manage deliverables on deadline.
- Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm CST
- Hourly Rate: $85 – 90/hourly with optional benefits plans
Job Responsibilities:
- Real time and critical business-focused legal advice for data and sales related businesses and issues.
- Structure, draft, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including technology, data, and service contracts.
- Play a key role in action planning and communication with business partners, business units, and other areas of Law & Regulation.
- Anticipate legal concerns and provide creative problem solving in a dynamic business environment.
- Draft, review and negotiate complex matters and agreements (data and technology agreements preferred).
- Complex research as to applicability of pertinent laws, statutes, regulations, rules, and other legal authority; ability to summarize concisely and collaborate with other areas of company to determine impact of new legal authority on business and enable action plans.
- Understanding of interaction in regulated environments between business, policy, compliance, legislative, and legal frameworks.
Required Education and Experience:
- J.D is required.
- 7+ years legal experience in a law firm or an in-house legal department for a mid- to large-sized company typical.
- Experience in the following areas: data, privacy, commercial, marketing, technology, intellectual property, M&A, strategy, and/or highly regulated sectors.
- Experience operating within a parent company and its family of companies.
- Business and work experience outside legal context.
- License to practice law in any US state.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Leadership skills, including team building, collaboration, coaching, developing and guiding.
- Executive presence and concise verbal and written communication skills.
- Budget management skills and Project management skills.
- Computer skills, including MS Office suite, are used in or related to the tasks performed.
- Analytical skills.
- Ability to be discrete and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Business acumen with ability to quantify return on investments (create and contribute to business cases and risk evaluations).
