About the Role
We are seeking an experienced attorney to join our team at Producers National Corporation as an Insurance Contracts Counsel. Reporting to the General Counsel, this role will involve handling complex legal and insurance matters, advising on related corporate and commercial matters, and providing legal support to senior management, shareholders, and key business partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice on all aspects of the insurance business, including inter-company agreements, third-party contract review, and corporate compliance support.
- Support strategic business initiatives and other matters as assigned, including review and drafting of subproducer agreements, trust agreements, managing general agent agreements, service and/or claims administration agreements.
- Provide legal advice on varied corporate and transactional matters, negotiate commercial contracts, and resolve disputes on behalf of the corporation and its subsidiaries and affiliates.
- Identify and mitigate legal risk in challenging business issues and opportunities involving contractual arrangements, employment matters, merger activity, and corporate compliance.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with senior management, the board of directors, shareholders, and external stakeholders, including clients, insurance producers, and agents.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited institution and membership in good standing of a Bar (or equivalent).
- Two or more years of combined law firm, government, and/or in-house legal experience with increasing levels of responsibility involving the insurance industry, litigation, or commercial matters.
- Contract review experience may be substituted for one year of legal experience.
- Experience in transactional matters or litigation, preferably in the insurance or reinsurance industry.
- Superior oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and a positive attitude.
