About the Role

Xeris Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Contract Attorney to join our small but sophisticated legal department in Chicago. This is a fantastic opportunity for an outstanding attorney to contribute to the financial and operational success of our rapidly growing, publicly traded life sciences company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide general commercial legal support on all contract and transactional aspects of the business, working closely with our business teams to drive financial and operational success.
  • Draft, review, and revise contracts for various aspects of the business, including vendor agreements, confidentiality agreements, license agreements, supply agreements, consulting agreements, clinical trial agreements, and managed care agreements.
  • Participate in commercial negotiations with internal clients and third parties.
  • Assist with transactional matters, such as mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and private debt.
  • Help maintain the internal document management system.
Requirements
  • Holds a Bachelor's and Juris Doctor (JD) degrees with strong academic credentials.
  • Has a minimum of 2+ years of transactional and contract drafting and negotiating experience at a mid- to large-sized law firm and/or established company.
  • Is a member in good standing of a state bar association.
  • Capable of handling multiple and competing workloads with changing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work independently but know when to involve others or ask for guidance.
  • Can work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working in-house at a life sciences company or the life sciences group at a law firm is a plus but not required.
  • Competencies: Strategic Judgment, Strong Written and Verbal Communications, Teamwork & Collaboration, High Attention to Detail, Self-Starter, Problem Solving, Organizational skills, Adaptability.
Working Conditions
  • The position may require periodic evening and weekend work, as necessary to fulfill obligations. Infrequent overnight travel.
  • This is a hybrid role based in Xeris' Chicago office and requires a minimum of three days per week in the office. On-site requirement may change at management's discretion.
