Position Purpose


This position is responsible for managing the receiving, product handling, storing, picking, and packing activities of the warehouse. The materials manager must achieve inventory accuracy, coordinate order fulfillment, and track shipping times to ensure that quality standards are met or exceeded on a consistent basis. Gives daily direction, distributes, and manages daily workload, builds teamwork, trains and re-trains employees in safe working methods and accurate data entry of inbound and outbound products. Motivates and directs team toward increased productivity and when necessary, delivers discipline. Has authority to assign overtime, hire, discipline, evaluate and separate staff as required. In collaboration with other groups and team members strives to meet or exceed customer expectations by shipping the correct product to the place, at the correct time. Partners with the Lean Champion to drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the warehouse, including product placement, 5S system implementation, and consistent process review. Develops strategies and goals in collaboration with the Plant Manager to assure policies and processes are best in class and drives cost out of the warehouse operations. Oversee and manage logistics for transporting products to customers and company facilities.


Job Functions


  • Manage daily warehouse activities, including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, floor productivity, shipping, and customer service.
  • Oversee inventory control, shipping and receiving, and materials storage activities.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to meet customer delivery timelines.
  • Supervise shipping and receiving functions for purchased parts and finished goods.
  • Identify opportunities for reducing transportation costs.
  • Monitor the storage of purchased parts and finished goods.
  • Establish procedures and oversee the execution of year-end physical inventory audits.
  • Schedule and oversee warehouse team and manage the flow and quality of work to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime.
  • Meet regularly with warehouse supervisors and warehouse leads to analyze productivity and develop actionable plans for loss prevention.
  • Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee general maintenance when necessary
  • Oversee and manage logistics for transporting products to customers and company facilities, communicating with drivers and air partners to ensure efficient delivery of packages.
  • Coach and train to develop skill level of existing workforce.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures and by complying with legal regulations.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree (four-year college or university) with emphasis in Business or related field preferred or equivalent experience in an industrial warehouse environment.
  • Skilled in building teams, cross-functional facilitation, communication, and change management
  • Solid understanding of accounting, budgeting, process control.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Advanced Excel and data analysis skills. Dynamics AX or similar ERP system previous experience.
  • Active CPM or CPIM, CSPC or related certification preferred.
