Our client is currently hiring an Operations consultant to join their team on a contract basis. The individual in this role will be available full-time for 4-8 weeks in the Rochester, NY area (housing will be provided if necessary). The Operations Consultant will play a critical role in evaluating and improving the overall operational efficiency of our cannabis production and inventory management processes. This position will focus on assessing the effectiveness of our current operations, identifying gaps in our growth plan, and making strategic recommendations to ensure our business goals are attainable. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of cannabis operations, a keen eye for process optimization, and experience in helping companies streamline their growth strategies.


Key Responsibilities:


Operational Efficiency Review:

  • Conduct in-depth assessments of current facility operations, including production, packaging, inventory management, and logistics.
  • Analyze workflows and procedures to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.


Production Process Analysis:

  • Review and evaluate production processes to ensure they are optimized for scalability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide insights on enhancing productivity while maintaining strict adherence to regulatory and safety standards.


Inventory & Supply Chain Optimization:

  • Evaluate current inventory management practices and recommend strategies to optimize inventory levels, reduce waste, and prevent stockouts or overages.
  • Collaborate with supply chain teams to streamline procurement, storage, and distribution processes.


Growth Strategy Alignment:

  • Assess the alignment between current operational processes and the company’s growth objectives.
  • Identify gaps in the company’s growth plan and recommend strategic changes to ensure operational readiness for future expansion.


Process Improvement Recommendations:

  • Provide actionable recommendations for process improvements, cost reductions, and technology upgrades that align with company goals.
  • Develop implementation plans for approved recommendations and provide ongoing support during execution.


Reporting & KPI Tracking:

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
  • Deliver regular reports and presentations to senior leadership, highlighting findings, recommendations, and progress.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Operations Consultant or similar role in the cannabis industry, specifically within the New York market.
  • Strong understanding of cannabis cultivation, processing, and inventory management practices.
  • Expertise in process optimization, production planning, and operational audits.
  • Ability to analyze complex systems, identify gaps, and develop strategic recommendations.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working within New York State’s cannabis regulations
