Position Summary: The Panel Shop Assembler is able to be competent to perform electrical and mechanical assembly. The assembler must be able to cut and punch metal, mount hardware, build DIN rail assemblies, and install and properly terminate wiring. In addition to this multi-skilled position, the employee is skilled in all aspects of assembly to include soldering, enclosure assembly, DIN assemblies, wiring of cables and other assemblies. Each assembler can work alone and as part of a team and is able to produce effectively at each station or cell.


Primary Responsibilities

Populate or builds enclosures with components according to engineering drawings.

Assembles, modifies, terminates and installs cabling, wires or harnesses inside or outside of enclosures.

Cuts and punches DIN housing and rail

Assembles DIN mounted terminal assemblies

Assembles product modifications and kits

Compares product to drawing & industry standards

Operates CNC Laser, engraver and thermal printing machines

Uses power/hand tools, equipment such as hydraulic press, drill press, miter saw, etc.

Houses & packages product to be shipped

Maintains consistent work flow

Perceives opportunities for continuous improvement

Interacts agreeably with team members

Performs other duties as required by management.


Minimum Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication

Strong math and problem solving skills

Proven mechanical aptitude

Understanding tolerance and torque values

Ability to read, understand and convert metric/imperial measurements

Ability to understand and read engineering drawings and wiring diagrams

Wiring and soldering experience

Computer skills such as Microsoft Office, Sharepoint and Contact CIM

Able to work overtime when required.

Strong computer skills


Education Requirements

Minimum High School Diploma or GED

Academic training from a recognized technical, science or engineering school may be substituted for experience.


Physical Demands

To successfully perform the essential functions of an assembler, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers with dexterity, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, speak, lift up to 50 lbs., bend, and see clearly (prescription glasses are quite acceptable). Specific vision abilities required for this position include close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to readily adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made to accommodate individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Must be comfortable being on equipment that can reach heights up to 18 feet.
