Direct Support Professional- Caregiver

Come join us at SARAH SENECA Residential Services, Inc. We are a not for profit human service agency serving the Connecticut shoreline towns of Branford, North Branford, Guilford, Madison and Clinton. We provide group home services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
We are looking to fill multiple Direct Support Professional positions. 1st shift, 2nd shift, or 3rd shift available. (Mostly second shifts are needed.)
You will be taking care of individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. This may require completing personal care such as bathing and assisting in the bathroom.
You will be responsible for completing housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, vacuuming, dishes, laundry, etc.
You will be assisting individuals in cooking their meals and preparing to the correct food consistencies
Accompany individuals to doctor appointments and ensure proper paperwork is completed.
Administer medications to individuals as part of being DDS medication certified.
Assist individuals in purchasing personal items and completing grocery shopping.
Come up with recreation activities and accompany individuals on outings in the community. (movies, bowling, going to the park, shopping, etc.)
Act as an advocate for the individuals you support to ensure they receive the best possible care.
There will be daily documentation required in an electronic case management system called Therap.
Teach individuals new skills and assist them with completing their goals and objectives.
May be required to redirect behavioral concerns.
Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of intellectual disabilities.
- Valid State of Connecticut drivers license required with clean driving record.
- Working knowledge of ADL skills: i.e. banking, food preparation, housekeeping, money management.
- Must have Med certification through DDS for all permanent positions (within 6 months of hire)
- Weekend availability is required
