The San Diego River Park Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization founded in 2001, aimed at creating a healthier future for the iconic San Diego River and the people of San Diego and its visitors. We strive to build a river-long system of parks, community places, and pathways, and bring together a diverse group of individuals, businesses, and groups to accomplish this vision. Our office is located in western Mission Valley, and we have a team of 16 employees who support our volunteer and education programs, land conservation initiatives, and projects, including the River Center at Grant Park.


Role Description

The San Diego River Park Foundation seeks a Senior Manager to lead our events and public engagement efforts. This is an exempt position. The Senior Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing engagement strategies with a special emphasis on event management. The role requires strong project management skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, a proven track record of event management, and a passion for environmental conservation and community engagement.


The position will be responsible for managing a variety of community and donor events. This position also requires ability to generate creative content to support marketing of these events and philanthropies.


Ideal Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Nonprofit Management, event planning or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in nonprofit marketing, or event planning
  • Proven experience in organizing and managing charity events
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with social media and digital marketing
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Passion for environmental conservation and community engagement
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and with diverse stakeholders

80% Event Planning and Public Engagement

20% Fundraising
