Senior Network Security Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and experienced cybersecurity professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network security, including hands-on experience with Checkpoint Firewalls (v. 8030-8120), and a strong background in writing policies, diagnostics, and forensics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure and maintain security platforms such as IDS/IPS, Firewalls, SIEMs, and Endpoint protection.
  • Collaborate with the Managed Security Solution Provider (MSSP) to optimize IDS/IPS and SIEM tools.
  • Monitor systems for security incidents and vulnerabilities, developing robust monitoring and visibility capabilities, and effectively respond to and report incidents.
  • Identify and mitigate external threats, including DDoS, spoofing, brute-force, or man-in-the-middle attacks.
  • Assess and communicate risks and appropriate levels of urgency to management and engineering staff.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required, including participation in a regular on-call rotation.
  • Foster a positive team environment focused on driving standards, collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain successful relationships with internal business partners, the Technology Team, and vendors.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • 10+ years of relevant cybersecurity network experience.
  • Hands-on experience with network security technologies including:
    • Firewalls, Web Application Firewalls
    • Network IDS/IPS Solutions
    • Strong authentication methods
    • Cloud Security (AWS and/or Azure)
    • IPSec and TLS-based VPNs
    • TCP, UDP protocols and vulnerabilities
    • Logging and alerting with SIEMs
  • Proficiency in network design concepts, including subnets, VPNs, VLANs, and network segmentation.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience in building and maintaining security systems for both on-premises and cloud environments.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • Advanced certifications in Information Security, such as CISSP, CEH, or other industry-recognized certifications.
  • Experience with modern authentication methods and knowledge of network encryption and vulnerabilities.
  • Experience in configuring and maintaining backups on SIEMs.
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments.

Additional Information:

  • The role will initially require on-site presence for the first 90 days, followed by a hybrid schedule of 2 days remote and 3 days on-site.
  • The security team consists of a CISO, a security engineer, and one networking engineer.
