Overview:
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of expertise in designing and architecting Cisco ACI solutions tailored to meet both business and technical specifications. This role requires a deep understanding of data center networking principles, application needs, and security considerations. Responsibilities include deploying Cisco ACI fabric along with associated networking components such as spine switches, leaf switches, and APIC controllers, while ensuring seamless integration with existing network infrastructure.
Key tasks involve configuring ACI policies, tenant networking, VLANs, VXLANs, access policies, and Quality of Service (QoS) settings. The candidate will also focus on optimizing network performance and troubleshooting connectivity challenges. Utilizing automation tools (such as Python scripts, Ansible, or Cisco's APIC API) to enhance provisioning, configuration, and management tasks within the ACI fabric is essential. Monitoring the health and performance of the ACI fabric through tools like Cisco APIC, telemetry data, and syslog is also a critical aspect of this role.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot network issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Enforce security policies within the ACI fabric, ensuring adherence to organizational security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Document network designs, configurations, procedures, and modifications comprehensively.
- Generate reports on network performance, capacity planning, and infrastructure health.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including network operations, security, and application teams, to address their requirements and resolve issues.
- Stay informed about advancements in Cisco ACI technology through ongoing training and self-study.
- Mentor junior team members and share knowledge to foster team growth.
- Identify opportunities to enhance network efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
- Propose and implement improvements to the ACI fabric based on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
Qualifications:
Required Skills:
- Active Secret Security Clearance (TS/SCI preferred).
- IAT II / Baseline Certification Security+ or equivalent.
- Proficient understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals (e.g., DNS, FTP, SSH, ACL, VLAN, DMZ, BGP), general networking technologies, and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Ability to articulate and resolve routing and switching issues.
- Advanced skills in network design, engineering, and implementation.
- Experience in creating network-related Rough Order Magnitude (ROM) equipment lists and cost estimates.
- Strong interpersonal skills for negotiating priorities.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- 5 years of relevant technical experience in Network and Transport technologies, tools, and techniques.
- Over 5 years of experience with large-scale enterprise/global networks in a dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with the DoD Architecture Framework and other key DoD network architecture and strategic planning instructions.
- Extensive experience in packet capture analysis or using Wireshark is highly desirable.
- Review and approve Network engineering documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Establish and adhere to formal procedures for coordinating Network integration activities among multiple teams.
- Capture all interface designs in a standardized format and maintain interface data in an accessible repository.
Desired Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Cisco Certified CCNA, CCNP, CCDP (or equivalent).
- Experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting Cisco ACI-based networks.
- Manage and support the Cisco ISE solution across the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ISE with other network components.
Additional Information:
- The position may require physical activities such as lifting IT hardware and managing cables.
- Travel may be necessary to support mission objectives.
