Overview A leading global law firm is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive local marketing and business development initiatives in its Boston office. This role will support both local and firmwide strategic objectives, helping to identify growth opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and enhance the visibility of attorneys and the firm. The ideal candidate is highly organized, strategic, and collaborative, with experience in legal business development or professional services marketing. Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development Strategy Develop, implement, and lead business development plans aligned with Boston office priorities. Partner with attorneys to identify growth opportunities and target clients. Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and client developments. Produce reports on BD outcomes, pipeline activity, and strategic insights. Support client research, industry analysis, and competitive intelligence using advanced tools. Marketing & Client Engagement Identify and promote attorney thought leadership through speaking engagements, publications, and awards. Collaborate with PR teams to enhance attorney and practice visibility. Coordinate client-facing events, networking programs, sponsorships, and other initiatives. Evaluate ROI for events and campaigns, and implement improvements. Alumni & Relationship Management Serve as primary contact for alumni initiatives; maintain and expand alumni databases. Leverage alumni networks to generate referrals and business opportunities. Track engagement and support firmwide relationship-building initiatives. Team Leadership & Operations Mentor and oversee BD specialists and coordinators. Manage marketing materials, promotional items, and office BD budgets. Collaborate with colleagues across offices to support firmwide initiatives. Take on additional tasks as assigned by leadership. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required (preferably in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field). Minimum 7 years of experience in legal marketing or business development, ideally in IP or corporate law. Proven success in strategic planning, event management, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration. Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience with proposals, marketing materials, and mentoring staff. Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite (including AI tools), virtual event platforms, and video conferencing technologies; SharePoint experience a plus. Strong research and analytical skills, with ability to synthesize data and provide actionable insights. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Collaborative, proactive, client-focused, and willing to work overtime when necessary. Base salary: $140,000 - $155,000, dependent on experience, skills, and qualifications. Comprehensive benefits package offered, including medical, financial, and professional development support.
