The Patient Access Technician collects and processes patient information necessary for admitting Inpatients, Outpatients, and Emergency room patients into the hospital system and to drive the workflow of other departments in accordance with policies and procedures set by the hospital by, including, but not limited to: identifying and verifying method of payment for services rendered; meets or exceeds accuracy standard goals; collection of co-payments at time of service; maintaining patient confidentiality; answers all calls on the main switchboard in a timely manner and works independently without direct supervision. The Patient Access Technician complies with hospital-wide guidelines and Departmental policies and procedures; conducting job duties in an ethical, honest and professional manner with internal and external customers by, including, but not limited to: always speaking on the telephone with courtesy; demonstrating teamwork; portraying a positive service attitude; complying with regulatory laws and regulations; abiding by compliance guidelines and follows the hospital's ethical and business policies.
Minimum or Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree in a health care related field preferred. 1-2 years in a Medical office setting; Customer Service Skills;Typing and data entry. 2-5 years of experience in Patient Financial services preferred with Bilingual experience,Experience in collections and Experience in Computer applications: Meditech, PICIS
