Senior EHS Engineer

You will work closely with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) teams, providing expertise on air regulations, permitting, and Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting.

Focus:

  • Offer expertise and assistance concerning regulatory compliance, permitting processes, and reporting requirements related to air quality and Toxic Release Inventory (TRI).
  • Manage all air permitting activities for their facility, including New Source Review (NSR), Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD), and Title V.
  • Conduct emissions calculations, prepare permitting documents, engage with agencies, and provide compliance guidance.
  • Provide support for capital expenditure and operations-focused projects, ensuring environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance.
  • Assess and convey regulatory and compliance needs for permits to environmental support within facilities, operational leadership, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure the electronic environmental database remains up-to-date by consistently updating it with newly issued permits.
  • Prepare and submit air regulatory reports, such as Annual Emissions Reports, Title V compliance reports, and Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reports.
  • Oversee emissions source testing and analyze the resulting data for facility operations.
  • Serve as an interface between project teams and consulting teams, effectively conveying technical, schedule, and financial information.
  • Engage in compliance audits and contribute to the enhancement of Best Management Practices (BMP).



Skill Set:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Management, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in industrial environmental roles.
  • Knowledge of Illinois and federal air quality regulations preferred.
  • Familiarity with Environmental Justice principles impacting air permitting.
  • Experience with emissions source testing and Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
  • Effective communicator across technical, legal, and regulatory audiences.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions and locations, including office, field, and confined spaces.
