Summary

The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Construction Engineering Research Laboratory is looking for an Operational Water Team Research Assistant to support harmful algal bloom mitigation and monitoring studies.


Duties

  • Conducting literature review for the development of a report or journal article.
  • Analyzing water samples for various water quality parameters, including but not limited to total phosphorus, total nitrogen, nitrate, pH, conductivity, total suspended solids, volatile suspended solids, and turbidity.
  • Performing data analysis of lab and field-derived data using RStudio or similar.
  • Writing concise reports to summarize research results.
  • Ensuring cleanliness of laboratory space.
  • Performing market research for lab and field equipment.


Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate Junior or Senior in the Civil and Environmental Engineering program, Environmental Science, or a closely related program.
  • Laboratory experience in chemistry, biochemistry, environmental engineering or similar is preferred.
  • Experience using R Programming or Python is preferred.
  • Knowledge of general lab practices and safety.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skills.
