Location: Martinez, CA 94553

Position: R&D Purchasing Specialist

Pay Rate: $30/hr

Duration: 3-months, with potential to extend based on performance and attendance.

Schedules/Shift available: M-F 7:30am- 4:30pm with one hour lunch.


PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Utilizes knowledge of Quality Systems, in accordance with FDA Quality System Regulation, ISO 13485 and the Safety Program in performing daily activities. Demonstrates the ability to function as a team member by responding positively to change, showing a willingness to resolve conflicts, communicating in a positive way, and displaying an attitude that promotes teamwork.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Under limited supervision, applies considerable maintenance knowledge to perform a broad range of tasks.
  2. Initiate Purchase Requisitions and making vendor contacts when necessary.*
  3. Recommends parts and materials for replacement of those used in preventive maintenance and repairs in a timely manner.
  4. Active team leader in maintaining, training and compliance reviews of corporate safety standards, procedures and policies.
  5. Recommends changes and updates to Maintenance, Safety, and Facilities procedures as applicable.
  6. Continuously seeks ways to improve safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of maintenance activities. May perform audits of maintenance performed by others.
  7. Functions as a good team member. Collaborates with other members of the team as well as other departments to communicate procedures and observations to employees at all levels of in the Company.
  8. Keeps neat, accurate, and thorough records. Maintains a clean and orderly work area, including clean-up of work areas where maintenance has been performed.
  9. Performs Shipping/Receiving duties as required.
  10. Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues and/or in making recommendations.
  11. Normally receives no instruction on routine daily work, and general instructions on newly introduced assignments.
  12. May provide assistance to lower-level staff with more complex support tasks that require a higher level of understanding of functions, as directed by immediate supervisor.
  13. Reviews and complies with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  14. Assists with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor.
  15. Other duties as assigned.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  2. Sits, stands, or kneels for extended periods of time. Bends, climbs, and reaches over head with arms and hands for all levels of facilities support. Extended periods of standing and sitting may be required. Capable of working in moderate to excessive noise levels. Exposure to corrosive, caustic, and/or reactive chemicals, compressed gases, dusts, and flammable solvents. Capable of working on elevated work platforms.
  3. Must be able to lift at least 35 lbs.


EDUCATION:

  1. High School Diploma required.
  2. Associate’s Degree desirable.


EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  1. Minimum 2 – 4 years of related maintenance experience.
  2. Experience working within a quality system in an FDA regulated environment.
  3. Operate fork truck and other material handling equipment to move materials in a safe and orderly manner.
  4. Basic knowledge and use of relevant PC software applications, such as MS Word and Excel and transportation carrier-provided (such as UPS) shipping software.
