ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, train, develop and mentor a team of 1 to 3, including Senior Media Planner/Buyer, Media Planners/Buyers
  • Provide media expertise, help define goals, and ensure all campaigns are on strategy to achieve client goals
  • Plans and develops advertising/media programs across multiple verticals
  • Negotiates and purchases both offline (TV, radio, newspapers, outdoor and magazine) and online (programmatic, site direct, mobile/tablet, etc.) media.
  • Confers with media vendors to evaluate best placement and ensure optimum use of the client’s budget. Fosters and maintains vendor relationships. Seeks out new partners and technologies for clients.
  • Gathers statistics and prepares media plans, flowcharts and directives to guide buying process.
  • Helps to establish media goals, objectives, and strategies for advertising campaigns.
  • Presents media plans to Associate Media Director and/or client for approval along with rationale to support plan decisions.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining client reporting, including data analysis and insights.
  • Maintains all media buys through invoice management and is responsible for analyzing and assisting with the post-buy results.
  • Delegates workloads to junior team members throughout media planning and buying process.
  • Team lead on non-campaign initiatives relating to business needs (e.g. process updates, new technology training, POVs).
  • Contribute to and help lead media training efforts
  • Evaluates and recommends internal media resource needs
  • Assist in performance reviews for media planning/buying team
  • Develop case studies for internal and new business use
  • Supports the AMD and Media Director in new business activities
  • Represent the agency at media conferences


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors Degree required.
  • 6+ years of Media or Media Planning/Buying experience required.
  • Digital (especially programmatic) and broadcast experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in mentoring and developing a team of junior staff
  • Demonstrated ability to teach analytic skills to junior staff
  • Exceptional oral and written communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail
