Position Summary:

As the Food Safety Director, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food safety across all stages of production, processing, and distribution. Your primary role will involve designing, implementing, and managing food safety protocols to meet regulatory requirements and exceed industry standards. You will collaborate closely with various departments to develop and maintain strategies that uphold our commitment to delivering safe and nutritious products to consumers.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop, implement, and maintain food safety policies, procedures, and protocols in alignment with regulatory standards (FDA, USDA, etc.) and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of facilities, processes, and equipment to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
  • Lead training programs to educate employees on food safety protocols, hygiene practices, and regulatory compliance.
  • Establish crisis management plans and response strategies to address food safety incidents or recalls promptly.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that food safety is integrated into all aspects of operations, including procurement, production, and distribution.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends, regulations, and advancements in food safety technology to continuously improve existing protocols.


Required Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Safety, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in food safety management within the agricultural or food production industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, including FSMA, HACCP, GMPs, and other relevant standards.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful food safety programs.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, motivate, and manage a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Certification in Food Safety (e.g., Certified Food Protection Professional, Certified HACCP Auditor) is a plus.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies and managing audits and inspections.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
